It depends on which sign.I believe speed limit on highway has to be on the right side by law. However, no passing, crossing and some others can be either side because the highway act did NOT specify which side.
It is always the issue of the law. No one knows all the details.

You have to check the ACT to get all details. But yes, some signs are specified have to be on right but others don't. That is why the Judge said either side is ok. But in reality, I never check the sign on the OTHER side of the road at all.
