Bell, Microsoft to partner in Canada's first IP TV trial

Bell Canada and Microsoft Corporation have announced they will work together to test and deploy TV services based on new Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) technology. The trial is the first of its kind in Canada, and among the first in the world.

The solution will use video compression technology to dramatically reduce bandwidth requirements, enabling Bell to deliver broadcast quality video services over its broadband network. The new initiative will maximize the value of both the Bell broadband network and Bell ExpressVu digital programming service.

The initiative is part of an overall video strategy to find more ways to deliver Bell ExpressVu digital programming services to customers on their terms, whether through satellite or wireline. It will enable Bell Canada to expand on the market leadership, expertise and strengths of Bell ExpressVu digital service, and to make its programming even more accessible and enhanced. For Canadians, it will mean even more choice about how they receive the information and entertainment they want, where and when they want it.

Microsoft's IPTV is designed to provide high-quality, cost-efficient, next-generation media delivery. It will support both standard and high-definition channels, on-demand programming, and interactive program guides, plus future service offerings which leverage two-way, interactive platforms.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
