Don't know much about CIW certificates. Seems good, but it doesn't offer any advanced level of exam which means you can't go any further. GSEC is entry level of test at Sans,

yellow(yellow)
they have a few other certificates focusing on different areas, such as firewall/IDS/Windows/Unix.
