The rules of surcharge may vary from bank to bank. CIBC, for example, grants your first few transactions free of charge. After that it charges $0.45 for each electronic transaction (Tele-banking, ATM etc.), $0.60 for cheque and in-branch transaction. There are some packages which allow you to minimum the surcharges.
